Premier League club Chelsea FC and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have agreed terms for the permanent transfer of United States star Christian Pulisic. The 20 year old winger will spend the rest of the 2018/19 season on loan with Dortmund.

Both sides have agreed on a transfer fee of €64 million, while the Germans will not have to pay a loan fee for the six months he remains with the club.

“In summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players,” said Pulisic in an official statement released by his new club.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: “We are delighted to have signed one of Europe’s most sought-after young players. Christian has shown his quality during a fantastic spell in Germany and at just 20, we believe he has the potential to become an important Chelsea player for many years to come. We look forward to welcoming him to Stamford Bridge in the summer and wish him and Dortmund every success for the remainder of the season.”

Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director Michael Zorc said: “It was always Christian’s big dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with Christian’s American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract.”

“Christian Pulisic is a perfect player in terms of his character. I’m sure that in the coming months he’ll do everything in his power to bring his high quality to the team and to achieve his sporting objectives with his team-mates at Borussia Dortmund,” Zorc added.
