Concacaf and OEG sports announce multiyear licensing partnership

CONCACAF - Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) today announced a multiyear agreement with OEG Sports as its global master licensee and licensing agent for consumer products.

The rights deal makes OEG Sports, a leading football licensing agency in North America, the first official and exclusive master licensee and licensing agent of Concacaf. The agreement covers a range of championships through 2022 including the Concacaf Gold Cup, the newly launched Concacaf Nations League, as well as properties such as development-focused youth tournaments and initiatives.

OEG Sports will develop comprehensive consumer products and merchandising programs across all major consumer product categories for distribution in stadiums, online and at retail throughout the Concacaf region. The portfolio of licensed products based on the Concacaf brand includes apparel, accessories, sporting goods, novelties, food and beverages, personal care, gaming and apps, music, and premiums.

“We are delighted to partner with OEG Sports to build and extend our presence in the consumer products market as part of the strategy to grow and diversify our business and in partnership with our 41 Concacaf Member Associations,” said Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio. “We view this agreement as a great opportunity to open an all-new consumer products platform in our region to further promote the game of football and engage fans in multiple ways with our Concacaf brand.”

“We are honored to be representing Concacaf in the merchandising area,” said Alex Altamirano, VP of Sales, OEG Sports. “The exponential growth of football we have seen in the region creates new opportunities that retailers and manufacturers will now be able to leverage through the multiple competition formats Concacaf has developed.”

“We believe this is a truly exciting time to launch the new consumer products program with Concacaf,” said Diego Barassi, VP of Business Development, OEG Sports. “We are looking forward to enhance the experience of football fans and grow the market as the Confederation prepares to host a number of great competitions, including one of the most anticipated sporting events in the region, the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Assorted types of products and different sales channels are just a few of the growth drivers to maximize the engagement with the fans as they also play a key role in the promotion of each event.”

OEG Sports is a fully integrated brand-extension agency, part of the One Entertainment Group of companies. Its portfolio of soccer rights includes iconic soccer clubs such as Real Madrid, Chivas Guadalajara, Club America and Bayern Munich, among others.
