The All India Football Federation (AIFF) organised a seminar for the Head of Referees (HOR) of various Member Associations in Gwalior from May 17-18, 2019 which was attended by 21 of the 29 HOR appointed by the respective member associations. The road map for the development of the referees and the importance in motivating and guiding referees to raise their level of officiating to a higher level was discussed in detail. The importance of charting an annual calendar for recruitment and promotion of referees was also discussed in the seminar.

The importance of recruitment as the annual feature was emphasized to enable the Referees Department to meet its target as envisaged in the Strategic Plan of the AIFF. The HORs were informed about the upgrading of the referees’ records in RASI to ease out and have more authentic records to have incorporated in the system.

On the other hand, 26 young Category-2 referees and asst. referees took part in a workshop in Gwalior from May 19-22, 2019. The referees were trained, analysed and minutely monitored for two years by the AFC Instructors to get them ready for the AFC Academy. Meanwhile, eight women referees will also join this group for the second phase of development training.
