Video: Germany down Chile 2-0 in final game before the FIFA Women’s World Cup

DFB Deutscher Fußball-Bund - DFB-Frauen (German Women's national team)

The German Women’s national team has registered a 2-0 win against Chile in a friendly match at the Continental-Arena in Regensburg, Germany yesterday. The match marked the end of a successful FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 preparation camp of the DFB Frauen.

Germany dominated the game from kick-off and captain Alexandra Popp opened the score sheet in the 29th minute. It was Popp’s 46th goal in her 96th appearance for the senior national team.

Carolin Simon increased the lead for the hosts moments before the half-time whistle. Simon’s cross from the left flank found its way to the back of the goal.

Germany head coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg made several changes in the second half to test a few more players in the final game before the World Cup finals in France.

The hosts kept on dominiating the proceedings and continued to create scoring opportunities. But Chile managed to deny the DFB Frauen from scoring more goals as the match ended in a 2-0 win for Germany.

Germany will open their FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign against China on June 8, while Chile face Sweden in their opening game on June 11.
