Amateur clubs look forward to welcome Bundesliga sides in DFB-Pokal Round 1

The draw for the first round of the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) 2019/20 was held tonight with the draw carried out by former Germany Women’s international Nia Künzer at the Deutsches Fußballmuseum in Dortmund.

Defending champions Bayern Munich travel to Regionalliga (4th Division) side FC Energie Cottbus, while Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund face 3.Liga (3rd Division) side KFC Uerdingen in a west derby. The Uerdingen vs Dortmund match will be a special match for 2014 FIFA World Cup winner and Dortmund boy Kevin Großkreutz who is currently playing for Uerdingen.

The matches would be played from Friday to Monday, August 9 to 12 across the country with the amateur clubs looking to welcome their more established opponents.
