The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced a 22-member Indian women’s national team squad for the COTIF Tournament to be held later this month in Spain.

Former captain Bala Devi, who was reportedly among the seven Manipuri footballers boycotting the national team over differences with coach Maymol Rocky and assistant Choaba Devi, was included in the squad, after she was called up for the preparatory camp in June.

She was the star of the recently concluded Indian Women’s League (IWL) where she top-scored with 26 goals in seven matches.

Notable absentees from the squad are defender Dalima Chhibber, midfielder Indumathi Kathiresan and striker Sandhiya Ranganathan.

Crystal Pinto, Archana A., Lako Phuti, Komal Kumari and Sumithra Kamaraj were the other players left out from the initial squad which was called for the preparatory camp at the Jahwaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
