FC Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac has praised Sarpreet Singh as the pre-season training comes to an end and Bayern prepare to take on rivals Borussia Dortmund in the German Supercup tomorrow.

Talking at the Supercup pre-match press conference, Kovac said: “I think we have made a scoop. His performances in America (during Bayern’s pre-season tour) and here (at the Audi Cup) indicate to me that he is already far ahead. I’m delighted with him and I’m positively surprised. I’m happy about his development.”

The 20-year-old Indian origin attacking midfielder and New Zealand international had signed a contract with Bayern’s Reserves Team in early July 2019. He is expected to spend most of the time with the Reserve’s Team which plays in the German 3rd Division.

Sarpreet earned a call-up to the first team for the Audi Summer Tour USA 2019 and impressed the coaching staff during the pre-season tour. He was also part of the Bayern squad which played the Audi Cup 2019 at the Allianz Arena a couple of days ago. The youngster was one of the best players on the pitch in the final where Bayern lost to Tottenham on penalties.

Sarpeet will be part of the Bayern squad which will face Borussia Dortmund in the first competetive match of the 2019/20 season. The match will take place at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in Dormund tomorrow.
