Mohammedan Sporting Club coach Subrata Bhattacharya spoke to mohammedansportingindia.com ahead of their 2019 Durand Cup Group B fixture against ATK at Vivekananda Yubabharati Krirangam on Friday, closing out the Durand Cup for both sides.

With the semifinals now out of reach, the gaffer was asked about the age-old sports cliche of “playing for pride.”

“We have already got pride and now we want to get a good result in our last game,” said Bhattacharya. “These teams have seen that on our day, we can give you a real go, that’s yet another source of pride. ”

Mohammedan Sporting defeated Indian Navy 6-2 in their most recent outing in Durand Cup with Ivorian striker Arthur Kouassi grabbing a fifer.

Although Bhattacharya feels that the win against Navy has given his side some much needed confidence, admitted his side is going to face a very tough opposition in the form of ATK. However, he vowed that his side will do their best.

“Playing against ATK is going to be very difficult but beating Navy has given us the needed confidence and do whatever it takes to make our supporters happy. Our focus now is to win our third match and our players have great will to win,” he concluded.
