Twenty-three coaches underwent the AIFF Grassroots Leaders Course hosted by the Mizoram Football Association (MFA) from August 27 to 30, 2019. The course was conducted by AIFF Instructors Shailesh Karkera, and Samson Ramengmawia at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl, Mizoram.

Former Pailan Arrows footballer Lalrozama Fanai, who was one of the participants described the course as a “novel experience.”

“The AIFF Grassroots Leaders Course is really a very holistic experience where we got to understand the psyche of the children as they go through various stages of their development,” Fanai said. “The Futsal practical was also very interesting considering that I am currently coaching the Bawngkawn Futsal Club in the Mizoram Futsal League,” he maintained.

Course Instructor Samson Ramengmawia who also doubles up as the Development Officer of the Mizoram Football Association felt such courses will further aid the football development of the state.

“We have a thriving football culture here in Mizoram. At present we have the Mizoram Premier League, the Futsal League and the Under-15 League all running simultaneously. We are now looking forward to the kicking-off of the 2nd edition of the Golden Baby league,” he explained.
