Honouring the 120-year anniversary of FC Bayern Munich this year, adidas releases a new jersey for 2020 that represents a modern interpretation of one of the most significant jerseys from the club’s illustrious history.
To create it, the adidas design team studied the jersey worn during its first ever German Championship winning season in 1932, identifying what made it so iconic, and what could be adapted for the 2020 release. Combining design principles and motifs from the two different eras, the 2020 edition represents the history and future of one of the most iconic clubs in the world.
The jersey unveiled today features a striking burgundy collar and sleeve set against a crystal-white base for impact on pitch. The inclusion of off-white badge detailing and muted branding ensures the design retains the minimalist aesthetic of its predecessor. A subtle ’120 JAHRE’ detail, translated as ‘120 YEARS’, on the shirt’s inside collar rounds of the sleek look.
Bringing together heritage design with innovations of today, the jersey is made from adidas’ AEROREADY fabric, specially tailored to keep athletes dry and comfortable during performance in any condition with its enhanced hydrophobic properties.
Available to buy instore and online at adidas.com, fcbayern.com and FC Bayern stores from 27th February, the jersey will be worn for the first and only time on-pitch by FC Bayern during the club’s home fixture with Augsburg on 8th March.
