All India Football Federation (AIFF) Technical Director Isac Doru addressed participants in a webinar on the topic ‘New Leadership Style Specific for the Modern Methodology of teaching Physical Education’ on Thursday (June 4, 2020), organized by The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and Khelo India.

The participants consisted of Physical Education teachers from across the country as Doru touched upon a number of important topics, such as the different traits required in a leader, types of leadership, the importance of emotional intelligence and its factors, etc.

He said, “The objective of sports is making people happy and healthy. As a leader, you should share your happiness and take into consideration that you as a Physical education coach, you need to create more leaders & not more followers.

“We need to create leaders who will have their own vision about various topics. It is important to encourage and support your players – in not just sports but with regards to their future development in all disciplines,” he continued.

Doru termed ’emotional intelligence’ as a vital factor in becoming a good leader and spoke at length about its five factors – motivation, self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy and social skills.

The Romanian also termed the athletic potential possessed by India as ‘liquid gold’.

“I am absolutely convinced that India has a lot of potential and proud that the natural talent in India has a higher potential than many countries. We need to work hard to make this liquid gold into proper jewellery and continue the development work such as professionalisation and testing methodologies,” Doru mentioned.

Dr. G Kishore, Principal & Regional Director, SAI LNCPE Trivandrum, stated, “I would like to thank the efficient way in which the topic was presented by Mr. Isac Doru. We are on a transformational stage in terms of methodology and the topic was very relevant for us. It was a very enlightening lecture and will give moral courage and empowerment to all our participants.”
