Olympique Lyon have announced the signing of Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir for their women’s team. The Iceland women’s national team star has inked a two-year deal with the French side.

The 29-year-old midfielder joins Olympique Lyon from Women’s Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. Gunnarsdóttir had a successful time in Germany since joining Wolfsburg in 2016. She has won four Women’s Bundesliga titles and four DFB Women’s Cup titles.

The six-time Icelandic Women’s Footballer of the Year is the captain of the Icelandic women’s national team. She has earned 129 senior international caps for her country while scoring 20 goals so far.
