DSC Arminia Bielefeld have secured the services of Venezuelan international Sergio Córdova. The 23 year old striker will join Bielefeld from Bundesliga rivals FC Augsburg on a loan deal until the end of the 2020-21 season. Córdova has represented Augsburg in 62 Bundesliga matches since 2017, while scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists in that time.

“We are delighted to acquire the services of Sergio, a young and dynamic striker with Bundesliga experience, for Arminia. We are convinced that he will help us with his qualities to achieve our goals in the forthcoming season,” said Samir Arabi, Managing Director, DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

Arminia Bielefeld’s head coach Uwe Neuhaus said: “Sergio is a versatile striker, who impresses with his passion and his physicality. Beyond that, he will fit perfectly to our team with his mentality.”

Sergio Córdova, who had his first training session with the team earlier today, said: “I’m happy to join Arminia and I appreciate their trust in me. I would like to help the team and the club to achieve the goals and I look forward to meet my new team mates.”

The Calabozo-born Córdova has earned 7 senior international caps for his country to date. He was part of the Venezuela U-20 national team which finished third in the 2017 CONMEBOL South American U-20 Championship and runners-up in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
