Kerala Blasters sign experienced striker Gary Hooper

Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC have announced the signing of experienced English striker Gary Hooper ahead of the 2020/21 season.

32 year old Harlow-born Gary Hooper played in his youth for Tottenham Hotspur Academy, Maldon Town and Grays Athletic, where he also made his senior debut.

Gary Hooper went on to play for Southend United FC with loan spells at Leyton Orient and Hereford United before joining Scunthorpe United.

Gary Hooper had his best spell at Celtic Glasgow in Scotland and thn played for Norwich City, Sheffield Wednesday before moving to the Australian A-League to play for New Zealand side Welington Phoenix.

Gary Hooper on moving to India said, “I am really looking forward to the next chapter in my career with Kerala Blasters. I hopemy experience can help the team and I can score important goals to help us challenge for the ISL title. Can’t wait to meet my team-mates and start training for the new season.”

Kerala Blasters sporting director Karolis Skinkys said, “Gary has a natural killer instinct on the field and can score some unbelievable goals. I’m positive that our fans will soon come to love Gary for his high-level goalscoring quality. I’m very happy to have a player of such calibre join the team and look forward to working with him for our upcoming season.”
