After matchday 17 of the Bundesliga and matchday 18 of Bundesliga 2 (17–19 December 2021 in both cases), both leagues will take a break. The only mid-week matchday of the Bundesliga season will take place before the break and is scheduled for matchday 16 (14/15 December 2021). After the winter break, Bundesliga matches will resume on 7 January 2022, with Bundesliga 2 resuming a week later on 14 January 2022. Matchday 34 – the final day of the 2021–22 Bundesliga season – is scheduled for Saturday 14 May 2022. Matchday 34 of Bundesliga 2 will take place one day later, on 15 May 2022.

Next season, the first matches in the DFB-Pokal will be held between 6 and 9 August 2021. The second round will follow on 26 and 27 October 2021, the third round on 18 and 19 January 2022, and the quarter finals on 1 and 2 March 2022. The semi-finals will be held on 19 and 20 April 2022.
