Mohammedan Sporting Club midfielder Suraj Rawat’s thunderous strike from outside the penalty area against Chennai City FC in the Hero I-League Phase 1 has been voted, in a poll conducted online, the Fan’s Goal of 2020/21 season.

The Sikkimese midfielder is certainly a worthy winner for his first-time shot from long range which left Chennai City goalkeeper Kabir Taufiq grasping at thin air. Impressively, the injury time stunner was the young playmaker’s first Hero I-League goal and it also earned him the Hero of the Match award.

At that moment, the scores were locked 1-1 and Mohammedan SC needed to win at any cost in order to keep their Championship Round hopes alive. Tirthankar Sarkar set up John Chidi’s pass inviting a long-range shot. And Suraj sent a thunder bolt from 30 yards out into the back of the net to secure full three points for the Black Panthers.
