The European Super League underlines the alienation of elite club football from the rest of the football world. It is a selfish, money-driven move which will benefit the break-away clubs. Professional football had major issues in recent years and fans have strongly condemned the excessive commercialisation of the game. The launch of the Super League is a devasting signal in these pandemic times while people struggle in all fields of social life. Humbleness and respect should be the driving force for football in these times. The unworldly Super League is an affront, and it will be a deathblow for domestic and continental football. It will also irreparably cut ties between elite football and European fans.
