2nd Divison Women’s Bundesliga leaders FSV Gütersloh 2009 missed a golden opportunity to further increase their supremacy on Sunday, when they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Reserves Team of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam.

Gütersloh dominated procedings at their very own Tönnies-Arena right from kick-off and took the lead in the 22nd minute. Central defender Maren Tellenbröker took advantage of a muddle in the Potsdam box to put a rebound past goalkeeper Inga Buchholz into the back of the net.

The hosts kept on pushing for a second goal, but wasted numerous chances to increase the lead and seal a win. Noreen Günnewig (53′), Annalena Rieke (58′) and Celina Baum (89′) had the most noteable chances, but all of them missed the target despite being alone in front of Buchholz.

Potsdam were innocuous but somehow managed to level the score line. Adrijana Mori’s long-range shot hit the cross bar and bounced into the goal in the 79th minute.

Gütersloh remain top of the standing with 26 points from 11 games, while Second placed FC Carl Zeiss Jena narrowd the margin with a 2-1 win against DSC Arminia Bielefeld to register 24 points to their tally.
