Bayern Munich and Schalke reach agreement on Neuer deal

German international and FC Schalke 04 keeper Manuel Neuer is set to join German giants FC Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of €15m according to agency reports.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness announced the news during an interview with German TV channel SKY Sports. Hoeness said that the Bavarians agreed in principle a transfer fee with Schalke during a meeting in Berlin last week and that an official confirmation will depend on Schalke’s plans.

Hoeness to SKY Sports: “Our board have reached an agreement with Schalke in negotiations and it is just a psychological question of whether they want to announce it before the cup final (on Saturday) or afterwards.”

Neuer was also on the target list of Manchester United as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar, but the German international always stated that he would prefer a move within the Bundesliga rather than moving abroad.
