UAE win preparation match in Austria

The national team of the United Arab Emirates has won their first preparation match ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The UAE is currently having a camp in Austria to prepare themselves for the upcoming match against our Indian national team.

The UAE faced Austrian 2nd Division club SV Groedig on Saturday. The match was played in the city of Bischofshofen and the visiting UAE team had their difficulties against the Austrian side.

Coach Srecko Katanec’s team registered a narrow win as the claimed a 3-2 victory in-front of 300 spectators.

Ismail Al Hammadi (11′), Mohammed Al Shehhi (28′) and Amer Abdul Rahman (86′) struck for the UAE, while Peter Zulj (15′) and Thomas Salamon (35′) scored for the Austrians.

The UAE will take on Romanian powerhouse Dynamo Bucharest in their second preparation match on Wednesday, before playing Russian Premier League side Dynamo Moscow on July 10.

India will take on the Maldives (June 10) and Qatar (July 17) in the build-up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
