Arminia Bielefeld sack coach von Ahlen

German 3rd Division side DSC Arminia Bielefeld has sacked coach Markus von Ahlen after numerous disastrous results in the on-going 2011/12 season. Bielefeld, who relegated from the 2nd Division Bundesliga last year, have just five points on their tally after ten league matches.

The decision was taken by the club committees late Monday night according to local media and it was officially communicated earlier today. Von Ahlen was informed about his sacking by sporting director Samir Arabi last night.

“The recent developments and especially the performances in the last few home games were decisive for the seperation. It will be our main aim to find a suitable replacement now,” Samir Arabi stated in an official club communiqué.

“The entire club would like to thank Markus von Ahlen for his great commitment and the services rendered. He has without doubt an excellent professional competence and I’m sure that he will successfully continue his coaching career,” Arabi added.

Goalkeeping Coach Marco Kostmann and Assistant Coach Stefan Krämer will take care of the team till the club finds a suitable new head coach.
