Rangnick steps down as Schalke coach

Ralf Rangnick has stepped down from his coaching assignments at German Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 today. Rangnick, who joined the club in March, has stated health reasons for his decision.

The 53-year old coach is suffering from the chronic fatigue syndrome according to an official statement by the club.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that I need some rest. It was not an easy decision for me, but I don’t have the energy to work successfully and to push the team and the club to the next level,” Rangnick said.

“I took this decision with an eye on my team. I wish them all the best for remaining campaign and as much success as possible,” the coach added.
