Bayern camp in full swing without Rafinha

Bayern Munich have entered the second day of their winter training camp in Doha. The Germans arrived in the Qatari capital on Monday and will be heading for India on January 9.

Coach Jupp Heynckes conducted a first floodlit training session on Monday evening. The focus was laid on passing and shooting, while the session concluded with a practice match between the Bayern players.

The Bundesliga giants started off their second day in Doha with a morning session at the ASPIRE Academy for Sports Excellence earlier today. But Heynckes and his coaching staff were still missing defender Rafinha on the practise ground. The Brazilian faced some visa problems according to Bayern sports director Christian Nerlinger.

“There were visa problems between Brazil and Qatar. But the problems have been solved,” Nerlinger told the club’s TV channel FCB.tv. Rafinha will arrive in Doha at 19.00 local time today.

“It was not Rafinha’s fault,” Nerlinger added.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are not the only team having a training camp at the ASPIRE Academy for Sports Excellence. French giants Paris St. Germain, the Swedish U23 national team and the Qatari national team are also sweating it out at the sports complex, while German Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 are expected to arrive at the same facilities later today.

Bayern will face Al Ahly Cairo (January 7) in a friendly match at Doha, before they continue their journey to India on January 9. The Germans will face the Indian national team in the “Audi Football Summit” at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi a day after their arrival.
