Bayern Munich signs Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri

German giants FC Bayern Munich have signed Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri. The 20-year old midfielder has signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga side.

Shaqiri completed his obligatory pre-transfer medical in Munich earlier this week and will join Bayern in the summer from FC Basel for an estimated transfer fee around € 13 million according to German media reports.

“We’re delighted we’ve secured the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri, one of the most sought-after talents in European football,” Bayern sports director Christian Nerlinger stated in an official press release.

“Xherdan’s intelligent play and dribbling skill will add to our team’s strength next season,” Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes told. “I’ve been observing him for a while now, and I’m convinced he can become a very important player for FC Bayern.”

The Swiss star has been on the wish list of several European top teams, but Bayern were the lucky ones to strike the deal with the talented midfielder.
