India arrives in Nepal without luggage

The Indian national team has arrived in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu for the AFC Challenge Cup 2012.

The 23 players and eight officials were welcomed by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) officials at the Tribhuwan International Airport.

Savio Medeira’s team will face DPR Korea, the Philippines and Tajikistan in a tough Group B. The “Blue Tigers” will kick-off their campaign against Tajikistan on March 9.

“We are in a tough group for sure but we are confident of defending the title. The team is the right blend of youth and experienced players,” Savio told.

Star striker and Indian Player of the Year 2011 Sunil Chhetri added: “We are a capable side with a lot of potential. We will go all out to attain our goal for our fans.”

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that some Indian players missed their luggage at arrival and the airport authorities had to search for the missing luggage at the Tribhuwan International Airport. The luggage was finally found and the Indian contingent proceeded to the team hotel.
