Celtic FC to train three Indian youngsters

Scottish giants Celtic FC have selected three Indian U14 boys for a 10-day training in August. Premananda Singha, Mangal Murmu and Mukesh Kumar have been selected on the basis of their performances in the 2012 Mahindra Youth Football Challenge Inter-City leg.

The 2012 Mahindra Youth Football Challenge Inter-City Leg was conducted at the Bangalore Football Stadium with the six winning schools from the Intra-City tournaments in Bangalore, Delhi, Goa, Kerala, Kolkata and Mumbai.

A total of 22 players from the competing teams were selected for an intense four-day coaching clinic with coaches from Celtic Football Club.

Celtic’s Academy coaches Mark Reid, Jose Romero, Mark Tobin and Tom McKay were impressed by the youngsters and selected Premananda, Mangal and Mukesh for the training in Glasgow.

Premananda and Mangal are students of the Pandua S.B.S.H.S., while Mukesh attends the CRPF School in Delhi.

“We are extremely happy today as we identify the boys who will be sent to Celtic FC in Scotland for further training. The Mahindra Youth Football Challenge has grown significantly in the last two years and I am proud to say that we are achieving the objectives that we set ourselves, which is to promote football at the grass roots level,” said Mahindras’ SP Shukla. “I congratulate the boys and wish them all the very best for a wonderful career ahead.”

“This year, we have again been part of a fantastic Mahindra Youth Football Challenge and it has been a great success. We hope this also gives the selected players a pathway to again progress and improve, when they come and visit the Celtic Academy for the ten day coaching period in Scotland,” Celtic FC’s Mark Reid told.
