Indian support for the German national team

The German national team hast started its UEFA EURO 2012 campaign with two wins and Joachim Löw’s squad is now getting some Indian support through a funny song called “Oh Germany, we love you” by Lovely and Monty Bhangu.

The two Punjabi brothers immigrated to Germany in 1984 and they are now based in the German city of Hamburg. Lovely and Monty work as taxi drivers and they have a passion to compose and sing Bhangra songs. Their songs had Punjabi and Hindi lyrics and they used to play their hits in the taxi.

But they had one major problem: None of their passengers understood the songs and the lyrics! So the Bhangu brothers decided to dub their songs with German lyrics and to create a new style called “Dollywood”. The word “Dollywood” has been created out of “Deutsch” (German) and “Bollywood”.

Famous german comedian Otto Waalkes persuaded Lovely and Monty to make their songs available to a broader audience, after listening some of the dubbed songs during a taxi drive with brothers through Hamburg.

Lovely and Monty have managed to get some public attention in the recents months and they are now trying to make an impact with their “Dollywood” UEFA EURO 2012 song in support of the German national team. The song has been featured by various German media and it seems like Germany is loving the Bhangu brothers.
