German FA confirms Robin Dutt’s appointment

The German Football Association (DFB) has officially appointed Indian origin Robin Dutt as the new Director of Sports. The DFB made the official announcement at a press conference in Frankfurt.

The 47-year-old German of Bengali roots will succeed Matthias Sammer who left the DFB ealier in July to join German giants FC Bayern Munich. Dutt had a meeting with DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach on Tuesday to sign an 4-year deal with one of the most powerful sports bodies in the world.

“It is a special moment for me to take over this exciting job at the DFB. I’m looking forward to work with national coach Joachim Löw and all the other DFB coaches,” Dutt told. “It is a really appealing challenge to take German football to the next level with the best talents of this country.”

“I’m happy that the DFB has reacted quickly and found a qualified solution. I’m looking forward to our collaboration,” Germany coach Joachim Löw stated.

The newly appointed Director of Sports will start in his new job on August 1 and he will be in charge of all topics related to the junior national teams, youth development and instrumental to create a bridge to the senior national team.
