Subrata Pal set to return to RB Leipzig

India star keeper Subrata Pal will be leaving Germany after a two-week long trial-cum-training with RB Leipzig on Saturday. The German club won’t sign Subrata for the upcoming season, but they are planning to invite him to the club for further training in May or July 2013.

The 25-year-old keeper was able to impress the coaching staff, but the club feels that sigining Subrata for the upcoming 2012/13 season is not achievable due to the various issues including player registration.

RB Leipzig’s goalkeeping coach Perry Bräutigam, a former East Germany international, couldn’t find enough words to praise Subrata’s talent and the skills he displayed during his stay in Germany.

“Subrata gave 100% from the first second, he was eager to learn and receptive about what I tried to teach him,” Bräutigam told after a training session. “Above all, his jumping ability and agility is very well trained. And his reflexes are really strong though off the line he would have to work a bit.”

“I hope he returns to us for more training next summer and then we will see what happens,” the former Bundesliga keeper added.

Subrata, who has been nicknamed “Air India” by his team mates, was presented a RB Leipzig jersey by the coaching staff and players [+ click here for pictures]. Subrata is scheduled to leave Germany on Saturday to join the Indian national team camp for the upcoming 2012 Nehru Cup.
