TOP 10: The Bundesliga transfer records

German giants FC Bayern Munich are expected to officially announce the signing of Athletic Bilbao & Spain star Javi Martínez early next week.

Bayern will be paying a record-breaking €40 million for the 23-year-old defensive midfielder according to German media. The deal would mark a new Bundesliga transfer record and top the €30 million German record set by Mario Gomez for his transfer from Stuttgart to Bayern.

The Martínez deal sets a new high for the German Bundesliga, but the German record is still far away to make it to the international “Top 10”. Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo (€94 million) heads the international list ahead of Zinedine Zidane (€73.5 million) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (€69.5 million).

But let’s have a look at the German transfer records…
