The Indian national team will kick-off the 2012 Nehru Cup when the face Syria in the opening match on Wednesday.
Star striker Sunil Chhetri will be leading the Indian team on its mission not only to defend the Nehru Cup trophy, but also to achieve a historic title hat-trick.
India has won the previous two editions of the tournament and Wim Koevermans’ boys are eager to win the title once again.
But the Indian team will need the support of all football fans to achieve the ambitious goal. “I urge all the fans to be behind us when we take the field at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,” skipper Sunil Chhetri appealed to all fans at the pre-match press conference.
