BSF crowned Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup Champions

The Border Security Force (BSF), Jalandhar have won the 33rd Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup 2012 in the final against Nepalese outfit Three Star Club at the Paljor Stadium, Gangtok on Sunday.

Both sides were locked to a goalless draw after regulation and extra time and the match needed a penalty shoot-out to find a new champion.

BSF keeper Machhinder Singh saved spot kicks by Three Star Club players Sandeep Rai and Biraj Maharjan, while Anil Ojha shot missed the target.

Ekka, Sarabjit Singh and Mandeep Singh converted their penalties to hand BSF a 3-0 win against the Nepalese side.

The BSF team have won the Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup for a third time in the history of the tournament.
