Santosh Trophy co-hosts Kerala start with a win

The Kerala State Team has started its 67th Santosh Trophy 2013 campaign with a 2-0 win against Jammu & Kashmir at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi today.

Kannan Rajendran scored both goals for the co-hosts in front of a partisan home crowd. The striker opened the score sheet in the 37th minute with a fine strike into the top right corner.

The second goal came in the 63rd minute when Usman P took advantage of a mistake by J&K keeper Vikramjith Singh. Usman laid off the ball to Kannan Rajendran who had no difficulties to find the back of the net.

Kerala will face Uttar Pradesh in their second Quarterfinal Group C match on Sunday, while J&K will take on Haryana on the same day.
