Churchill Brothers keep their AFC Cup hopes alive with a win

Churchill Brothers SC put up a clinical performance to beat Singapore’s Warriors FC 3-0 in a 2013 AFC Cup Group E match at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.

Jaison Vales opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a brilliant right footed strike from 20 yards out that left the Warriors goalkeeper stranded.

Churchill Brothers then doubled their lead just before the lemon break, when Sunil Chhetri found Bikramjit Singh inside the box, who tapped it past the goalkeeper.

The Goan giants then finished the game off in the 83rd minute, when a long ball by Ravanan was pounced upon by Belal Arezou who unselfishly played it to Sunil Chhetri. Chhetri rounded the goalkeeper and scored, earning a huge round of applause by the sizeable number of fans that had turned up to watch the intriguing tie.

With the win, Churchill Brothers are on four points from three matches. The “Red Machines” play Warriors FC in Singapore on April 10.
