East Bengal secure vital AFC Cup away win

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club have won their 2013 AFC Cup Group H away match 4-2 against Tampines Rovers FC at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

East Bengal took the lead when Rovers defender Anaz Hadee’s attempt to clear a shot by Lalrindika Ralte found is way into the back of the net in the 18th minute.

Sead Hadzibulic levelled the scoreline just ten minutes later with a fine header leaving East Bengal keeper Abhijit Mondal stunned.

Australian striker Andrew Barisic put the visitors back in the lead in the 62nd minute, while Chidi Edeh even made it 3-1 for the Kolkata side.

But the Tampines Rovers were quick to react as Mohammad Khairul Amri Bin Mohammad Kamal scored the second goal for his team just seconds after Chidi’s goal.

Barisic sealed East Bengal’s vital away win with his second goal of the evening. The Australian striker chested home a cross by Chidi in the 87th minute to hand East Bengal a 4-2 win in Singapore.

East Bengal is now top of the group with 7 points and a goal difference of +3 ahead of Vietnam’s Xuan Thanh Sai Gon FC (7 pts. / goal difference +2).
