India U-14 claim a win against Kyrgyzstan

The Indian U-14 national team has won its 2013 AFC U-14 Championship Group D qualifier against Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday.

The Indian youngsters opened the scoresheet in the 5th minute, when Abuthaheer found the back of the net.

Kyrgyzstan’s skipper Azamat Melisbekov scored the equaliser from a spot-kick in the 18th only to see India taking the lead once again through Khumanthem Ninthoinganba in the 26th minute.

Anwar Ali increased the lead in the 30th minute, while Abhijit Sarkar sealed the win for India in the 52nd minute.

India lost their opening match 1-3 to hosts Iran yesterday and they are now placed third in Group D behind Iran and Pakistan.

Head coach Narayana Menon and his boys will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the next match scheduled to take place on Sunday.
