AIFF receives three bid documents for new I-League clubs

JSW, a consortium from Kerala and Mumbai Tigers submitted their bid documents to register themselves as prospective I-League clubs for the 2013/14 edition of the I-League. The three clubs submitted their documents at the Football House, Dwarka on Wednesday.

JSW will play their Home-matches in Bangalore while Mumbai Tigers would be based in Mumbai. The consortium from Kerala will have their base in Kochi.

The submitted bids would now be placed before the Bid Evaluation Committee which meets in the Capital on May 21, 2013.

Sunando Dhar (CEO, I-League) felt the move would usher in a new phase as far as infrastructure and Youth Development are concerned.

“The reason to induct new corporate teams into I-League was not only to spread the I-League to new venues but also to address the infrastructure and Youth Development issues plaguing Indian football. We are confident that we would be able to handle these issues through the new teams,” he said.

“Right from Day One when we conducted the Open House Meeting at Football House, we were confident of receiving a positive response. We thank all for their support and cooperation,” Dhar added.

Interested parties were supposed to submit the documents latest by 17.00 IST on Wednesday (May 15, 2013).
