Injured Mario Götze to miss UEFA Champions League Final

Borussia Dortmund star Mario Götze will miss the UEFA Champions League Final against FC Bayern Munich as the youngster failed to regain fitness from a hamstring injury.

“The final was my big goal and I’ve been working really hard over the last few weeks,” a disappointed Götze told in an official statement released by his club.

“I’m really sorry I won’t be able to help the team in such an important game, but I believe in the squad and of course I’ll be travelling to London to support the lads from the sidelines.”

The 20-year-old German international suffered the injury during Borussia Dortmund’s UEFA Champions League semi-final return leg against Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

Götze returned to full team training yesterday afternoon, but he had to abandon the session due to pains caused by the still existing injury.
