Air India midfielder Soccor Velho dies of cardiac arrest

Indian football is mouring the death of Air India midfielder Soccor Velho who passed away after suffering cardiac arrest on Saturday evening.

The 29 year old I-League footballer participated in a practise match where a All-Star Team faced the Indian U-19 national team at the Chowgule Ground in Goa yesterday. Soccor was part of the All-Star Team put together by Salgaocar FC youth team coach Joaquim Crasto.

Soccor complained of chest pain and restlessness when he returned home after the match according to the information coming out of Goa. He was immediately taken to the Hospicio Hospital but he died on his way to the hospital.

Soccor Velho is survived by his wife and his one year old daughter.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Soccor Velho’s family, friends and his club. May his soul rest in peace.
