India U-16 national team beat Bangladesh 2-0

The Indian U-16 national team finished top of Group B by getting the better of Bangladesh U-16 national team 2-0 in the SAFF U-16 Championship at the Army Ground in Kathmandu, Nepal on Thursday.

India, being represented by AIFF Regional Academy’s U-15 boys, will be playing Afghanistan U-16 national team in the semi-final on Sunday.

Strikers Bedashwor Singh (42′) and Krishna Pandit (90’+1′) scored in each half to script another impressive win for the Boys in Blue.

India led 1-0 at half-time.

Post match, head coach Goutam Ghosh said: “I am happy with the way my boys played today. I have maintained that rectifying our mistakes stays the aim, and the boys did that. We kept possesion better than the first match and switched flanks well too.”

He added: “The first goal by Bedashwor (Singh) was a brilliant one. It was from a free kick, curled in expertly from 35-yards out. The goal made me proud.”

India play Afghanistan on Sunday at 16.15 IST.
