Salgaocar FC signs Japanese midfielder Seiji Saito

Salgaocar FC has roped in the services of Japanese central midfielder Seiji Saito for the 2013/14 season who joins the Goan giants from Polish 1st Division (Ekstraklasa) side Korona Kielce FC.

“He is a quality player, physically strong and has played at high levels in Brazil and Poland,” said SFC coach Derrick Pereira. “We have seen him at practice and he fits into our scheme of things. We’re very happy to have him onboard.”

The 27 year old Saito has previously played for notable teams like Sao Paolo ‘B’, J-League outfits Kawasaki Frontale and Kashiwa Reysol FC. He has also represented Japan at U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels.

Salgaocar FC’s General Secretary Raj Gomes said: “Saito has been with us a couple of days. His positive attitude, will to play for Salgaocar and experience for the last ten years will hold him in good stead. We hope he takes this opportunity to prove his talent and we wish him all the best.”

Seiji Saito stated that he was very happy and is looking forward to this exciting challenge with Salgaocar FC. “I will do my best and contribute towards the club having a good season,” Seiji Saito quoted after signing on the dotted line for Salgaocar FC.

Libero Sports’ Arvind Narayan, who represented Seiji Saito in the transfer to Salgaocar, said: “Seiji is a very good player and has experience of playing at the top level in Asia, Europe and South America. I am sure that with his experience and maturity, he will look to be a vital cog in Salgaocar FC’s team for next season.”
