Shrinivas Dempo: I want to make this club a people’s team

Youth development and fan base mobilization will feature prominently in Shrinivas Dempo’s plans for the 2013/2014 season as he revealed his motto to set a base for youth development and reach out to the masses to make this club a people’s team. Sharing his excitement under a new set-up Dempo said: “I have always believed that the strength of the team has remained in the spirit and unity with which they have approached football. We are still working upon new Ideas and over the next six months we will unveil future plans for the club.”

Along with the resolve to successfully bring back I-League title, Dempo declared that his prime focus will be to build and develop appropriate structures for youth football while identifying and implementing workable plans to utilize the club’s support base.

Dempo observed that youth development was critical to the future of Dempo Sports Club and at the time that the Dempo SC – FC Midtjylland (Denmark) partnership was focusing more on raising an academy in Goa, management could not have chosen a better plan. While admitting the delay due to clearances at the Government level, Dempo expressed his optimism about the academy project. “Youth development is one of the critical areas of a club and hence we need to pay utmost attention to it. We will follow a comprehensive, practical and a futuristic plan for the club,” said the club chairman.

On fan development, Dempo SC have begun slowly with a mobilisation program which will look at drafting young people from schools and colleges into the clubs supporters base. They have already tied up with Fr. Agnel High school from Goa Velha and are in talks with several other schools and colleges from their area.
