Churchill Brothers get the better off Wilfred Leisure

In an exciting 2nd Round Match of the Goa Pro League, Churchill Brothers SC emerged 3-1 victor’s over Wilfred Leisure.

Mariano Dias and Sukhwinder Singh made two changes to the starting line-up that beat Dempo in the opening fixture, with Mickey Fernandes and T. Bineesh Balan replacing Lenny Rodrigues (international duty) and Henry Arnaud Antchouet Rebienot (suspension) respectively.

T. Bineesh Balan, Yumnam Raju Mangang and Jaison Vales were on the score-sheet for the ‘Red Machines’, while Melwin Fernandes got the consolation goal for Wilfred Leisure.

T. Bineesh Balan opened the scoring in the 17th minute from the penalty spot after being brought down by Bonny Niasso.

Yumnam Raju Mangang capped off a wonderful run into the box, with a brilliant finish in the 29th minute. Churchill Brothers headed into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Wilfred Leisure got back into the match in the 68th minute, when a brilliant through ball by Agnelo Colaco found Melwin Fernandes, who made no mistake in slotting the ball past Arindam Bhattacharya.

The ‘Red Machines’ maintained their two goal margin after Jaison Vales smashed the ball past Wilfred Leisure goalkeeper Jovial Coutinho in the 70th minute.

The win takes Churchill Brothers to six points from two matches.
