Punjab State Super Football League to kick-off on Wednesday

The 27th Punjab State Super Football League 2013-14 will kick-off at Jalandhar’s PAP Football Ground on Wednesday (August 21).

The inaugural match of the 27th Punjab State Super Football League will witness the Punjab Police team taking on United Punjab FC, while JCT Academy would face Central Reserve Police Force in another match at the JCT Ground, Chohal (Hoshiarpur) later in the day.

The league sponsored by Star Impact Private Limited will be played on a home-and-away format with a total of eight teams participating in the top tier of club football in Punjab.

Border Security Force (Jalandhar), Punjab Police (Jalandhar), Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), JCT Academy (Phagwara), Central Reserve Police Force (Jalandhar), Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Hoshiarpur), Dalbir FA – Punjabi University (Patiala) and United Punjab FC (Mahilpur) will contest in 56 matches to crown a new champion.

All the teams have to play atleast one match at a neutral venue chosen by the Punjab Football Association (PFA). The PFA has decided to do so with the aim to reach out to more fans in the state. The neutral venues will be Rurka (Jalandhar), Bilga (Jalandhar), Chhabewal (Hoshiarpur), Chohal (Hoshiarpur), Malerkotla (Sangrur), Khera (Hoshiarpur), Paldi (Hoshiarpur) and Ludhiana.

Star Impact Private Limited will provide the official matchball named “Nobel” for all the league matches.

The 27th Punjab State Super Football League 2013-14 is scheduled to have its final matchday on September 17 according to the tentative schedule released by the PFA.
