India U-16 boys trash Sharjah SC U-17

The India U-16 national team walloped the Sharjah Sports Club U-17 team 4-0 in their first of the two friendlies organized by the All India Football Federation ahead of their AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers campaign in Kuwait starting September 21.

The match was played in Sharjah and the India U-16 boys will play the UAE U-16 national team on Tuesday.

Jerry Lalrinzuala scored a brace of goals (32nd, 66th) while Bedashwor Singh (2nd) and Prosenjit Chakraborty (13th, penalty) netted one apiece to notch up an impressive win for the recently crowned SAFF U-16 Cup Champions.

Head Coach Goutam Ghosh did not want to read too much into the result.

“More than the result, I am happy that the boys stuck to the philosophy. It’s all part of the developmental process. I am happy with the exposure these boys are getting.”
