BREAKING NEWS: India to host 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup

India has won the bid to host the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The FIFA Executive Committee took the decision during its two-day meeting at the Sauipe Hotel in Salvador de Bahia. India will be hosting its very-first official FIFA Tournament and the news will be a much needed boost for Indian football.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) handed over its official bid documents on November 12 after a long battle to get all the needed assurances from the Government of India. The work has finally paid off, but the real hard work is yet to begin for the AIFF and all involved parties.

India need to meet all requirements to host such a tournament according to the given deadlines, if the 2017 FIFA World Cup should turn into an unforgettable event for Indian football. World-class infrastructure like state of the art stadium, training pitches, public transportation and accomodations are just a few of the requirements any country awarded the hosting rights for a FIFA Tournament need to fulfil.
