Bayern Munich prove to strong for Guangzhou

UEFA Champions League winners FC Bayern Munich have won their FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013 semifinal against Guangzhou Evergrande FC from China.

The Bundesliga giants dominated the proceedings against the AFC Champions League winner right from kick-off in front of 27,300 fans at the Agadir Stadium.

Bayern hit the woodwork twice through Thiago and Toni Kroos, but the Germans had to wait till the 40th minute when Franck Ribéry finally found the back of the net with a fine volley. Mario Mandžukic increased Bayern’s lead four minutes later as the unmarked Croatian international headed home a cross from Thiago.

Bayern had a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time and the Chinese side coached by famous Italian coach Marcello Lippi had to accept the gap in class between these two continental club champions.

Mario Götze put an end to any Chinese glimpse of hope with an early goal in the second half when the youngster beat keeper Zeng Cheng with a shot from the edge of the area.

The Germans could have easily won the match by a bigger margin, but Pep Guardiola’s team didn’t display their full potential against Guangzhou Evergrande.

Bayern won the match 3-0 and they will now face the winner of the Raja Casablanca v Clube Atlético Mineiro semifinal. The final of the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013 is scheduled to take place at the Marrakech Stadium on Saturday.
