Goa-India go down to Mozambique

The Goa-India has lost its second match in the Lusofonia Games Goa 2014 football tournament on Wednesday.

Coach Francesco Neto’s Goa-India team started the tournament with a 2-1 win against the same opponent in two team Group B on Monday.

But the Goa-Indian side had to settle for a 0-1 defeat to the Africans in their second encounter at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco.

Mozambique won the match match courtesy to an own goal by Churchill Brothers’ midfielder Richard Costa in the 57th minute.

The Africans had the chance to take the lead in the first half, when they were awarded a penalty. But Mozambique failed to convert the spot kick and needed the second half own goal to claim their first three points in the tournament.

Goa-India and Mozambique are both through to the semifinals scheduled to take place on January 25 and 26.
