Dutchman Eelco Schattorie resigns as United SC coach

Eelco Schattorie has resigned from his post as the head coach at I-League side United SC.

The 42 year old Dutchman handed his resignation letter on Monday and posted a statement on Facebook saying that he has resigned due to the financial problems at the club.

“I resigned from my job as my clubs financial situation is to bad to continue,” Schattorie wrote. “In the end i am a professional. I thank my Boss Nabab Bhattacharya and all other officials for the fantastic cooperation. All of you did extremely your best and still are trying to survive. My deepest respect and wish you all the best.”

“With pain in my heart I leave my players who did their best till the last day and I wish them all the best for the rest of the season. Keep fighting and earn a good offer for the future to come. All the best and maybe till in the near future.”

United SC has been struggling for months after main sponsor, the Prayag Group, pulled out due to their involvement in the chit fund scam. The Kolkata-based club is still looking for new sponsors to run its business, but the search has been an unsuccessful on so far.
