India looking for 18th win against Bangladesh

The Indian national team will hoping to secure its 18th win against Bangladesh as both sides clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa tomorrow.

India and Bangladesh have played a total of 30 matches so far. India has won 17 encounters, while Bangladesh were victorious in five matches. Eight matches ended in a draw. The Indian side has scored 41 goals in the 30 matches, while the visitors claimed 20 goals.

The first clash between the neighbouring countries took place during the 8th Asian Games 1978 in Bangkok, Thailand. India won the match 3-0 with Bidesh Bose, Harjinder Singh and Xavier Pius on the score sheet.

India and Bangladesh settled for an 1-1 draw in their last meeting, which occured during the 2013 SAFF Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal. Atiqur Rahaman Meshu put Bangladesh in the lead minutes before the final whistle, while India star skipper Sunil Chhetri scored the late injury time equaliser.
